Sandra Bullock recently commemorated what would have been her late partner Bryan Randall‘s 58th birthday – his first heavenly birthday.
The 59-year-old actress’ partner sadly passed away on August 5 after a long (but quiet) battle with ALS (or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) – a neurodegenerative disorder that can severely impact the nerve cells in the spinal cord and the brain, according to the Mayo Clinic.
It progressively gets worse and causes significant muscle control loss in people who have it. Sadly, there is no cure yet, and the disease is fatal.
Many of Randall’s family and friends – and even Bullock’s fans – were shocked to learn that he had been suffering from the disorder for three years, opting to keep his health details private and only sharing them with those closest to him.
Sandra Bullock and Bryan Randall’s relationship
Bullock and Randall, a photographer, began dating in 2015, several months after he was hired to photograph her son Louis’ birthday celebration.
In a “Red Table Talk” episode in December 2021, Bullock touched on her bond with Randall, as well as her tumultuous divorce from ex-husband Jesse James in 2010.
“I am someone who went through the divorce process,” she said, adding: “I discovered the love of my life. We share the joy of raising two beautiful children – three children, counting [Randall’s] older daughter. It’s a priceless experience.”
The A Time to Kill actress described her partner as a “saint” after telling him she would be adopting a second child when they had only just begun dating.
‘I said, “Remember that NDA you signed when you photographed my son?” I said, “You know, that still holds.” He said “Why?” I said, “I’m bringing a child home when I come back from Toronto,’” Sandra explained.
The duo never officially married, but details of an unofficial exchanging of “vows” came out following Randall’s death – the pair reportedly had a small ceremony with friends and family in the Bahamas on December 31, 2017.
Bullock is the mother of two children, Louis, 13, and Laila, 10. Randall had a daughter, Skylar, from a previous relationship.
Sandra Bullock’s touching tribute
In her partner’s final days, Bullock had been his dedicated caretaker. Now, it’s been revealed that she decided to honor his memory in a special way.
Bullock’s sister, Gesine Bullock-Prado, shared news of the poignant tribute on social media, filming the heartfelt moment as they scattered Randall’s ashes at Snake River in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
In a video posted by Bullock-Prado, the serene surroundings of Snake River served as the backdrop for Randall’s final resting place. She captioned the post with a touching message: “Happy birthday, Bry. Sandy brought you to the river, just as she promised.”
Bullock’s tribute to Randall on his birthday only serves to highlight the enduring love and respect they shared.
