You don’t need to be a parent to believe that every child deserves the opportunity to succeed in life.
While some children are born into more challenging environments than others—for no fault of their own—all little boys and girls are equally lovely and deserving of love and respect.
I’m really appreciative that my upbringing was filled with happiness when I think back on it.
In comparison, I had all I needed and never felt anything less than loved and respected.
Unfortunately, not every child benefits from growing up in a stable home. While some are born into homes where abuse is common, others are born into poverty.
Some are left orphaned and forced to grow up without the natural love and care provided by a mother or father, as the young boy who is the focus of this narrative is.
Priscilla Morse was reportedly going through her social media newsfeed in 2015 when she came across a picture that would drastically alter her life.
It showed Ryan, a little child who was malnourished and skinny.
He was raised in an orphanage in Bulgaria after losing both of his parents, but it was obvious that life had not been kind to him during his brief sojourn on the planet.
Even though Priscilla and her spouse David were already parents to three children, they felt compelled to take action.
Amazingly, they made the decision to adopt Ryan because they felt he was destined to be their son and they were his parents.
Priscilla and David realized at this point that they shouldn’t take this decision lightly.
They had adopted a young girl with Down syndrome and a heart condition in addition to their two sons. To put it simply, they would have a lot more to do if Ryan was included.
Nevertheless, they knew that if they didn’t step in, there was a good risk the young child would pass away. In the end, Priscilla took a plane to Bulgaria to adopt Ryan and return him to Tennessee.
Regretfully, Ryan’s state of health and condition were worse than initially thought.
According to reports, he had clubfoot, scoliosis, dwarfism, and cerebral palsy. His body was so thin that he had developed a thick coat of dark hair to try and stay warm.
After completing their adoption, Priscilla and David returned Ryan to the United States.
Although they were advised not to have high expectations for his longevity, Ryan showed himself to be a man endowed with a spirit fit for a fighter.
Priscilla claims that after arriving in Tennessee, she drove Ryan to a children’s hospital in Nashville. The physicians there were merely in disbelief that he was only seven years old.
Ryan started to heal despite all the hardships he had experienced. His trip required numerous medical visits, a great deal of effort, and delicate care from Priscilla and David, but it is all worthwhile when you see his precious little smile.
To keep people engaged in the latest developments about her son’s life, Priscilla created the Saving Baby Ryan Facebook page. The 67,000 fans of her page continue to see her post images of Ryan on a regular basis, showcasing his incredible recovery.
Ryan doesn’t look nearly as weak as he did when Priscilla first saw his picture.
Priscilla said: “The skeletal near death child crying in pain…he doesn’t exist anymore. He’s gone forever and he’s been replaced with a chubby, giggly, happy boy who loves kisses and tickles. He rolls all over and can be a naughty little butterball!”
I’m not sure about you, but this tale made me cry! I’m wishing Ryan the best of luck going ahead. I appreciate all of your hard work, David and Priscilla.
